Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Braintree Rivers Rotary Club is delighted to announce that following the success of our previous golf days, we will be holding our 3rd golf day on Thursday 24th June 2010 at the Colne Valley Golf Club, Earls Colne. It is a great day for all you golfing enthusiasts and there is even a chance for you to win a car for a hole in one, courtesy of John Pease of Braintree.

There will also be some other excellent prizes to be won throughout the day. It is not a problem if you are not a golfer, as you would still be very welcome to join us at the evening reception for a meal, raffle and to hear from our guest speaker Mike Brace, CBE (the Chairman of the British Paralympic Association). The great thing is that all proceeds will be going to a very worthwhile charity - Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Teams of two players will enjoy an 18-hole team Stableford Competition with team and individual prizes and a 3 course presentation dinner. All profits from this event go to charity, Braintree Rivers Rotary Club members volunteer their time for free. Entry is £110 per team of two players and if required, additional presentation dinner guests at £25 each are most welcome.

The Purple Pinkie Rotary collection

Children with purple pinkies

Children with purple pinkies

Polio has no cure. It is a crippling and potentially fatal disease and children under the age of five are at greatest risk. However Polio is easy to prevent by vaccination. When a child is vaccinated, they have a purple stamp put on their little finger giving them a Purple Pinkie.

We are delighted to inform you that Braintree Rivers Rotary collected enough money to immunise over 1000 children against Polio. Thank you very much for your contributions.

Your donations will directly support immunisation campaigns in developing countries, where polio continues to infect and paralyze children, robbing them of their futures and compounding the hardships faced by their families.

ShelterBox disaster relief

ShelterBox disaster relief

Following our collections in Bank Street and Braintree Freeport, Braintree Rivers Rotary Club and Braintree and Bocking Rotary Club are delighted to announce that enough money was raised to provide 5-shelter boxes. Each ShelterBox provides a ten-person tent, a range of survival equipment, a basic tool kit, a wood burning or multi-fuel stove and a children's pack containing crayons and pens. The contents of the ShelterBox are adapted to each specific disaster. Many thanks to everyone who donated. If you would like to find out more about ShelterBox or make a donation directly, please visit the Shelterbox website.
